Music Video Premiere: Ariana Grande – “Dangerous Woman” (Visual 1)

Ariana Grande has revealed what makes her feel dangerous: …Letting her hair down.

Ariana-Ariana, let your hair down the castle walls — So we can climb up and look for that second visual you are promising. This first visual for “Dangerous Woman” is mostly a let down, and only a slight graduation and sequel to her bashfully flirty debut music video “The Way.

I was hoping to hold back any negative critiques of this single until I saw a firm and thoroughly envisioned video. But this video did not prove one vital thing: Ariana Grande does not have the conviction as a performer to sell a sexually suggestive song like this. As if her vocals didn’t feel weak and innocent enough, the video does little to change that. I was hoping that a music video would provide a little more “danger” and deviousness to convince me that she truly wants “to do things that [she] shouldn’t.”

Clearly, the only thing she feels that she shouldn’t be doing is removing the ponytail in this Nickelodeon-grade film/projection noir clip.
